The Town of Jonesborough is proud to announce the grand opening of Tiger Park, a major new community recreation area, with a ribbon cutting ceremony scheduled for Friday, October 17 at 9:30 a.m. The event will take place at the park, located at 720 N. Cherokee Street, adjacent to Jonesborough Elementary School.
Tiger Park spans 30+ acres and offers a wide range of recreational amenities designed to serve residents and visitors of all ages. The park features include:
“This new park is a significant investment in the health, well-being, and vibrancy of our community,” said Town Administrator Glenn Rosenoff. “Tiger Park will improve the quality of life not only for our residents and school system, but for the entire region. It’s a shared space—a recreational magnet—that will be enjoyed by generations to come.”
The development of Tiger Park was made possible in part through a $2.57 million Local Park and Recreation Fund Grant, awarded in 2023 by the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation and administered through the Office of Outdoor Recreation.
The project is the result of a collaborative partnership between the Town of Jonesborough, Washington County Commission, and Washington County Department of Education/Board of Education. By locating the park next to Jonesborough Elementary School, the Town ensured it would benefit students during school hours and the broader community during afternoons, evenings, and weekends—maximizing the park’s use and impact.
Tiger Park expands the Town’s capacity to offer additional programming through its Parks and Recreation Department, including youth flag football, pickleball tournaments, spring soccer, and more. The park’s trail system will also provide a connector between downtown Jonesborough and future pedestrian recreation trails to Boones Creek Road. To celebrate the opening, attendees of the ribbon cutting will enjoy live entertainment, the opportunity to tour the park, and complimentary ice cream provided by Grace Meadows Farm Creamery.
The Jonesborough Wastewater Department will have a contractor working in the Main Street Village and New Halifax Subdivisions, as well as along Scott Lane, starting this morning (9/22/2025), conducting sewer line cleaning and inspection through Friday (9/26/2025), which will result in a moving lane closure from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm daily. The worksite will move throughout the area all week, impacting traffic flow in the vicinity as the work progresses. Due to the location of some of the lines, the work crew may have to traverse between homes along established easements. If there are questions, please get in touch with the Jonesborough Wastewater Department at 423-753-1022.
