As a young boy in Jonesborough, Kelly Wolfe never imagined that he would grow up to have a role in Town government, but he knew many good examples of local leadership. “I grew up attending the Presbyterian Church right on Main Street where we had at least two or three Alderman, the town administrator, and a couple of mayors who attended there. They were always busy with projects and events around town and involved in promoting our community. It seemed pretty normal to me at the time. But now I look back on what they were doing as planting a seed that led to me getting involved.”

Wolfe graduated from David Crockett High School and returned home to Jonesborough after graduating from Vanderbilt University to work with his grandfather in the home building industry. He and his wife Jennifer started their company, Wolfe Development, in 1994 and have remained a locally owned and operated business ever since.

Kelly and Jennifer raised their two daughters in Jonesborough and remain very involved in their community. Jennifer is a member of the Schubert Club, has been on the board of directors of Eastman Credit Union, and most recently served on the State Arts Commission. She was also a founding member of JAMSA. Kelly is chairman of the board for the Jackson Theatre, has served on the ETSU board of trustees, and served 16 years as State Republican Committeeman. He previously served over nine years as mayor from 2008 to 2018. During that time, Jonesborough saw an unprecedented growth in both infrastructure and amenities for its residents. He rejoined the board as an alderman in 2022 and was appointed mayor in 2025.

Kelly remains dedicated to his hometown. “It doesn’t matter what the issue is, Jonesborough always comes first with me. God continues to bless this community every day and we as local leaders have an obligation to be good stewards of those blessings. There’s no place I would rather live than right here in our little town.”
