Fire Operations Major
Performs difficult professional and intermediate administrative work in the department as assigned by the Fire Chief. This position is a part of the staff management team responsible for the supervisory and skilled firefighting work in directing the activities of the Fire Division on all platoons. The employee in this class is responsible for the direct command of the firefighting force on all platoons, and directs operations as assigned by the Fire Chief. The character of work requires the application of advanced fire skills. Work is performed with considerable independence within the framework of policies enumerated by the Fire Chief. Command assignments involve the responsibility for discipline of subordinates and the proper maintenance of apparatus and equipment. Wastewater Collection System Worker I
Under supervision, performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled duties in inspecting, installing, maintaining, and repairing wastewater collection systems of the Town of Jonesborough, including the installation, repair, and maintenance of force mains, gravity mains, manholes, septic tanks, S.T.E.P. units, pump stations, cleanouts, and service laterals. Other responsibilities include training new employees, supplying proper records, assisting other departments or work groups, and any other duties as assigned. Beginning Salary starting at $$18.85.
Wastewater Maintenance Technician
This employee is responsible for maintaining the equipment and facilities at the Waste Water Treatment Plant and within the waste water collection system. Employee performs both skilled and unskilled tasks and possesses the knowledge and ability to maintain all equipment related to the treatment of wastewater. This employee routinely works alongside system and/or plant operators to ensure operating tasks are completed as needed. This employee is under the direct supervision of the Director of Environmental Services. Beginning Salary starting at $21.57, if certified $22.33.
Water Construction Supervisor
Performs difficult skilled and technical work supervising water workers and equipment operators engaged in the provision of new services; installation of water taps and repairs to service lines. This is work which involves coordinating and inspecting the work of water distribution employees in the performance of a wide variety of jobs which require technical knowledge or skill. Areas of work and standards to be met are developed by the employee, and work performed is checked in process and upon completion. This employee is under the direct supervision of the Assistant Water Distribution Superintendent and the general supervision of the Water Distribution Director. This position operates as third in command of the department and assists both the Director and Assistant Director in eithers absence. This employee also functions as a senior crew leader.

This is skilled work in the operation of moderately complex specialized maintenance and construction automotive equipment. The work involves responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of assigned equipment. Employees in this class must have manipulative skill of a higher degree than employees of a lower class, and work in this class differs from that of the lower class of operator in that incumbents must operate heavier, more complex and specialized equipment, and several types of equipment within this category interchangeably. Park Maintenance Worker I
Performs responsible infrequent skilled and semiskilled or unskilled manual work tasks requiring no special training and minimal experience. This is manual labor in the performance of infrequent skilled and limited semiskilled or unskilled tasks of a physically demanding nature. The work involves performing heavy manual labor which does not require a high degree of manipulative skill or previous experience in order to do an effective job. This position is required to be monitored and trained in task requirements. As work experience is gained, employees in this class may be assigned to somewhat more difficult and responsible tasks. Employees in this class work with and around and may operate various pieces of light automotive and mechanical equipment during a minor portion of their time while monitored. The work normally is performed under close supervision; however, constant supervision is not always required for routine and repetitive tasks which can be carried on without difficulty once they are learned. Position is responsible for the maintenance of indoor and outdoor facilities, open green space, outdoor areas, athletic fields and mowing and landscaping. Work may be performed with considerable independence, but a supervisor will regularly check the work performed for quality, quantity, and safety of operation and care of equipment.
