The Jackson Theatre is excited to announce an exclusive screening of Gregg Allman: The Music of My Soul, the highly acclaimed full-length feature documentary exploring the life and work of the late, great Gregg Allman. $2 from tickets sold for all screenings of Gregg Allman: The Music of My Soul will benefit the Gregg Allman Scholarship Funds. This screening is one of over 40 one-night-only screenings in diverse venues across the United States and the presentations will take place in venues ranging in size from the 70 capacity Capricorn Sound Studios in Macon, GA, to the 4,665-capacity Fox Theater in Atlanta, GA. Due to the nature of the film, Michael Lehman, Lead producer and longtime friend and client, felt Allman Brothers Band fans and lovers of music will want to see this film on the big screen with a professional PA system in venues that, in many cases, had presented live performances from Allman, Dickey Betts, Jaimoe, or the Allman Brothers Band themselves.

He dove deep into his addiction when Duane died, but later in life, when he was sober, he faced his own mortality with dignity and acceptance. It’s personally important to me to carry Gregg’s message of trying to change the trajectory of people consumed by addiction. You can hear the ache in his voice in his brilliant music.”

“I’ll show you what horror means” – growls the hideous Mr. Hyde
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde story is one of the most enduring and classic ones in both literature and film history. When it was first published in the year 1886, Robert Louis Stevenson’s novel The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde aroused a storm of controversy. Quaint Victorian sensibilities were outraged by its premise that every human being has a demon lurking within, longing to break loose and indulge in forbidden pleasures. By scientific means, the tale’s protagonist, the kindly Dr. Jekyll, frees his suppressed self and plunges into an orgy of uncontrollable licentiousness that ends in an untimely demise. Although the motives and circumstances of splitting one character into two have changed from adaptation to adaptation, the basic premise of the story is still compelling. This version is the first sound one (previous version from 1920 starring John Barrymore). It is an adaptation of two 1887 stages play by Thomas Russell Sullivan, Luella Forepaugh and George F. Fish, rather than the book by Robert Louis Stevenson. It is considered the best version of Stevenson’s classic; this 1932 film resulted in an Oscar win for actor Fredric March. Beautifully filmed by Rouben Mamoulian and well-acted across the board. It also features some stunning visual tricks and strong pre-Code sexual content.

Mitch Capel, who often performs as “Gran’daddy Junebug,” is a seasoned storyteller, recording artist, published author, and poet. Mitch first began writing and performing skits at the age of 12, and has delighted audiences throughout the U.S. with his warmth, wit, and compelling storytelling style since 1985. Considered the “national interpreter” of the poet laureate Paul Laurence Dunbar’s work, Capel has been featured at venues across the country, including the DuSable Black History Museum, The Kennedy Center, the Smithsonian Folklife Festival, and the Presidential Inauguration of Barack Obama.

Join the Jackson Theatre and the McKinney Center for a series of programs celebrating local history and America’s 250th birthday. Tales of Our 250th includes skits, historians, re-enactors, musicians, and much more in a tapestry of Jonesborough stories and community history. These events will run June-October and start at 7:00 pm. They are Pay What You Can but go ahead and reserve your seats at Jonesborough.com/tickets.
Each evening will include a scene or scenes from the original play The First and Last Town in Tennessee, written by Anne G’Fellers-Mason, which premiered earlier this year at the McKinney Center and was featured in The New York Times. Join Jonesborough historian Paul Fink, portrayed by Tim Herron, as he walks you through the big and small moments that make Jonesborough an important part of the American story.
Programming dates and times are listed below. Acts are subject to change. Each performance starts at 7pm will last about 90 minutes.
June 25th – Embracing the Past: Historic Preservation in Jonesborough with a presentation by Dr. William Kennedy and a performance by local band The Ozone Rangers
July 23rd – Forging a New Nation: Revolutionary War History featuring re-enactors from Sycamore Shoals and a performance by the Watauga Valley Fife and Drum Corps
August 20th – The Road to Freedom: African American History in Jonesborough including a special presentation of the original and award-winning play Nancy, presented by the Heritage Alliance
September 24th – The Lost State of Franklin with a presentation by Dr. William Hardy from MTSU and the stories behind the Battle of the State of Franklin with Tipton Haynes State Historic Site
October 22nd – A House Divided: Civil War History in Jonesborough with a presentation by Dr. Tom Lee form ETSU and a performance by the 52nd Regimental String Band

The Met: Live in HD series has made the Met the world’s leading provider of alternative cinema content and the only arts institution with an ongoing global series of this scale. When the series launched in 2006, the Met was the first arts company to experiment with alternative cinema content. Since then, the program has expanded, with more than 33 million tickets sold to date and robust attendance in five global cinema markets: the United States, Germany, Canada, France, and the United Kingdom. In North America, weekend box office ratings also remain strong, often placing Live in HD presentations—with only one showing—among the weekend’s top-grossing films. The 2026–27 season marks the 20th anniversary of the Live in HD program. The Met: Live in HD series has increased accessibility to Met performances for audiences around the world. With a global average ticket price of $23, the series has made world-class performances accessible to millions of opera lovers each season.
Met artists and celebrity opera lovers serve as hosts for the Live in HD series, providing background on the operas, introducing exciting behind-the-scenes features, and conducting live interviews with stars, crew, and production teams. Tickets for the 2026–27 Live in HD season will go on sale in the United States and Canada in July 2026, with international ticketing dates varying from country to country. Respective ticketing dates will be announced separately by individual distributors.
