Jonesborough Addresses Delayed Water Bills

The Town of Jonesborough acknowledges some customers have experienced delays in receiving their water bills. The Town sincerely apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause and want to assure our water utility customers that the Town is actively addressing this issue and is working towards a resolution.

The Town of Jonesborough utilizes the United States Postal Service to mail out water utility bills. Each utility bill is handed off to the Federal Mailing System two (2) weeks in advance. Due to a number of issues, some utility bills are not arriving to customers in a timely manner. To combat some of these issues, The Town of Jonesborough has been working closely with the Post Office and has already seen some positive changes.

The Town is also looking into utilizing new software that will make the utility billing process simpler for customers. In the meantime, residents are asked that all utility customers please be mindful of their due dates and proactively take steps to ensure their utility bills are paid on time.

If a resident’s utility bill due date is quickly approaching and they have not yet received their bill in the mail, the resident can:

  1. Come to the Water Administration Department, located inside of Town Hall at 123 Boone Street, and pay a bill in person. The resident does not need to know their utility bill account number as all account information can be accessed in person.
  2. Drop off a utility payment in the Payment Dropbox located on the door of the Water Administration side of Town Hall.
  3. Drop off a utility payment in the Parking Lot Payment Dropbox, located in the parking lot of the Post Office in Jonesborough, 121 Boone Street.
  4. Set-up automatic draft to pull a utility payment directly from a bank account. This can be done by filling out the “Bank Draft Authorization Form” located on the Town Service – Water Administration page of jonesboroughtn.org.

Our Water Administration staff is working diligently to make positive changes in utility billing. For any questions please contact the Water Administration Department at 423-753-1040.
