7:40 PM
The Jonesborough Water Utility crew has restored water to all homes on Highway 107 and the roads off Highway 107, excluding a few homes on the end of Charlie Carson Rd due to flooding. All houses and businesses north from the intersection of 81N and Tittle Circle to HWY 107 have had water restored. There is still no water on HWY 81 south of Tittle Circle, Bumpass Cove Rd. Little Germany Rd due to severe damage to our water infrastructure. We will be looking at the damage in that area and will start working on restoring water as soon as possible.
There is a boil water advisory for the next 48 hours for those who had water restored today. This is a TDEC requirement as a health and safety precaution.
What should I do if this Boil Alert applies to me?
DO NOT DRINK THE WATER WITHOUT BOILING IT FIRST. Bring all water to a boil, let it boil for three (3) minutes, and let it cool before using, or use bottled water. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation until further notice. Tap water is safe for bathing and showering but try to avoid getting it in your mouth. For more information, see

Water Utility Update 10/2/2024 1:20PM

Revised Update

October 2, 2024

1:20 PM

Jonesborough’s Water Utility crew have located the water line that runs through the Nolichucky River to Highway 107 and it is still intact. We are currently working on the line to repair some minor damage created by the hurricane.

Our plan for today is to have water turned back on to the Highway 107, all side roads on Highway 107.

RESIDENTS ARE REMINDED THAT ONCE THEIR WATER SERVICE IS RESTORED IN THESE AREAS, A BOIL WATER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR 48 HOURS AFTER SERVICE IS RESTORED TO THEIR RESIDENCE OR BUSINESS. THIS IS A TDEC REQUIREMENT AS A HEALTH AND SAFETY PRECAUTION. RESIDENTS SHOULD BRING WATER TO A BOIL FOR THREE (3) MINUTES PRIOR TO CONSUMPTION.

For updated information, you may visit Jonesboroughtn.org, or the Jonesborough Municipal Facebook page.

If there are any concerns, please contact our office at 423-753-1005.

Water Utility Update 10/1/2024 12:00PM

October 1, 2024

12:00 PM

The Jonesborough Utility crews worked through the night to get water turned back on to customers north of the Nolichucky river. The boil water notice is still in effect for those that had water restored earlier this morning. As of last night, at 1 am, we turned approximately 7000 customers back on and as of this morning we only have approximately 600 people without water. The area without water including Highway 107, all connecting roads on Highway 107 and 81 south from Taylor Bridge heading towards Erwin including Bumpus Cove and Little Germany.

We are assessing the damage and getting a plan together for the affected areas. We should have an update tomorrow.

The water treatment plant and waste water facility are both completely operational.
