Upgrades to Jonesborough’s Sewer Collection System & Traffic Notice 11/17 – 11/21

Upgrades to Jonesborough’s Sewer Collection System, which involve the removal of the “A Pump Station” and the installation of a 12-inch gravity sewer from West College Street to Barkley Creek Park via the corridor along the Barkley Branch tributary, are scheduled to begin this week.  This work is being conducted to improve and expand sewer services for our northern Jonesborough communities.  This work is necessary to ensure Jonesborough Utilities’ ability to serve our community now and into the future.  Construction activities, including equipment delivery and ground work, will start across the site.  Impacted areas include the 400 to 800 block of West College Street(81N), primarily near the 11E overpass.  Additionally, properties adjacent to the Barkley Branch tributary along North 3rd Avenue, Locust Street, Angle Street, and West Main Street will experience delays and increased traffic, which will continue through March 2026.  Updates will be announced when traffic flow is expected to be impaired.

Traffic Notice:

Next week (11/17 – 11/21)

Residents living on the 200 block of N. Third Avenue will have intermittent interruptions to traffic flow at the intersection of N. 3rd Avenue and Locust Street due to sewer line replacement.  Contractors will work with the residents to allow passage, but residents should expect delays until the related work progresses beyond the roadway.

Questions or concerns should be directed to the Environmental Services Director (423)-753-1022.
