Water Treatment Facility Update

Due to extreme flooding events in our area, and in particular the Nolichucky River, we are taking immediate precautions to preserve water. Our water plant is operational however due to muddy water conditions we are unable to safely treat the water. Therefore, the Jonesborough Utility System had to shut off water service to conserve the integrity of the water in our system and water tanks.
Once we are able to safely treat the water at normal rates, we will begin to open our water system to those areas that have been shut off. That is yet to be determined. We are fortunate that our plant will be fully operational once the river settles enough to allow water to be safely treated. Until then be prepared for an extended disruption of service.
Due to multiple bridge and road failures near the river, please be aware that infrastructure on the southside of the river have been washed away.
We are working with Washington County Emergency Management Agency who are coordinating efforts to provide pallets of bottled water and portable water tanks to affected areas. The first distribution station will be Grandview School in Telford. We will provide more details when we receive information on additional locations for pickup.
