Traffic Delays and Partial Road Closures March 4 – March 15
Beginning Monday, March 4, 2024, through Friday, March 8, 2024, contractors will begin a project of relining sewer pipes along Depot Street and 3rd Avenue In Jonesborough. This work will transition along Depot Street from S. Cherokee to 3rd Avenue throughout the week. We do not anticipate a complete road closure, but at times one lane may be closed to allow the crew to conduct service.
The week of Monday, March 11, 2024, through Friday, March 15, 2024, contractors will be working the area adjacent to Boone Street between Sabin Drive and Andrew Jackson Highway. The work will primarily be conducted in the drainage way that flows between the Library and the Visitors Center but may impact areas of the parking lots along this route. This includes the following locations: Sabin Drive at Whites Auto Parts, Library Parking Lot, Visitors Center Parking Lot, Post Office Parking Lot, Town Hall Parking Lot, and the entrance to the shopping area near Renascent Bank and Arby’s on the Southbound lane of Andrew Jackson Highway.
Drivers are to be aware of construction vehicles and personnel in the work areas. At times, the equipment utilized will make a bursting noise followed by an air and steam release. This is normal and there is no need to be alarmed. Residents in the area may be notified verbally or via door hanger by contractor representatives beginning today.
