Exploring is a worksite-based program. It is part of Learning for Life’s career education program for young men and women who are 14 through 20 years of age. The Explorer Program’s purpose is to provide experiences that help young people mature and to prepare them to become responsible and caring adults. Explorers are ready to investigate the meaning of interdependence in their personal relationships and community.
Exploring is based on a unique and dynamic relationship between youth and Public Safety Officers. Police Division personnel design educational and training activities that help youth pursue a career in law enforcement. The Explorer program is based on five areas of emphasis: career opportunities, life skills, service learning, character education, and leadership experience. The Explorers also participate in regional competitions throughout the year.
The Police Division Explorers meet the second and fourth Tuesday of every month and are always accepting new members. Individuals interested in the Explorer program may call 753-1053 to request additional information. The Explorer Post is chartered through the Sequoia Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
